The first floor of this building displays artistic windows of different geometrical shapes. There are some thirteen windows on this floor, eight of which are big and rest five are small. These small windows are of different designs viz oblong, rectangular, circular etc. The windows resemble greatly to the eye or screen windows set in the other historical palaces of the valley. In the second floor of the Sundari Bhawan, there are three big wooden windows. These windows are different from the ordinary windows; they are fixed some two feet outside the wall. The fixed windows make sufficient room for two people to sit inside. In the local Newari language, these windows are called Man Jhya.
The tikan jhya type of window is found in the old traditional Newar houses of the valley. This floor is roofed by the traditional Nepali tiles. In the southern part of the building, there are some stalls in the ground floor. In the first and second floor, there are artistic windows are stempnums. The Sundari Bhawan is the main center of attraction for the tourists and students of architecture.
As one enters through the main gate of the palace, he comes across a beautiful spacious square known as Sundari Square. There are four wooden poles in the Square which go up and rise. These poles are artistically designed and look very attractive. There are more wooden poles in the eastern part of this square.
In the ground floor of the building around this square there are beautiful wooden pictures of Gods and Goddesses caned in the beautiful conical brackets. The first floor of this high construction has twenty widows five in each direction. In the second floor, there is a verandah of tikan jhya type. This open-air balcony has been supported by a large number of stempnums. The ceiling of this balcony is supported by thirty-two artistic struts.
In the middle of this Sundari Square, there is a beautiful waterspout which is called Royal Bath. This water-spout is the heart-stealing part of this Square. At the top of this golden water tap, there is a gold painted statue of God LaxmiNarayan. Around this historical water outlet, there are stone statues of medieval Gods and Goddesses. There is also a beautiful little temple set at this legendary water spout. This little temple of Lord Krishna is the replica of the huge Krishna temple of the complex.
