The Apartheid Museum, the first of its kind, illustrates the rise and fall of apartheid. The exhibits include film footages, photographs, text panels and artifacts illustrating the events and human stories that are part of the epic saga, known as apartheid. During this time 30 000 individually painted images in 520 different rock shelters have been recorded.

A wealth of recreational opportunities match the scenic splendour around you. There are magnificently laid out day walks, the self-guided Giants Cup Hiking Trail and a fabulous wealth of rock art sites to rival any in the world. Breakfast. Morning transfer to Cape Town Habour where you will board a cruise to Robben Island at 09h00 (weather permitting). The tour is 3 and a half hours long, including the two half-hour ferry rides. For nearly 400 years, Robben Island, 12 kilometres from Cape Town, was a place of banishment, exile, isolation and imprisonment. It was here that rulers sent those they regarded as political troublemakers, social outcasts and the unwanted of society. Those imprisoned on the Island succeeded on a psychological and political level in turning a prison 'hell-hole' into a symbol of freedom and personal liberation. Robben Island came to symbolise, not only for South Africa and the African continent, but also for the entire world, the triumph of the human spirit over enormous hardship and adversity. After the tour, you will have the afternoon at leisure at the V&A Waterfront with lunch to your own account. A half-day township tour/ cultural experience can be arranged (to own account). Langa is Cape Town's oldest formal black township.

* The children at the Chris Hani Literacy School. You will have the opportunity to talk to people and try the traditional African sorghum beer and ginger beer at a small township shop ('spaza') or a tavern ('shebeen').

Dinner will be at your leisure (to own account). Overnight at a hotel near the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. (B)
